What are the potential safety hazards of the air compressor storage tank?

Because of its simple structure, the air storage tank of air compressor is often ignored by many people in terms of maintenance and use. Until the past two years, due to several accidents and explosions caused by pressure vessels, the safety hazards related to the use of gas storage tanks have attracted everyone's attention. Here we have a brief understanding of the safety hazards and countermeasures of air compressor gas storage tanks.

       1. Burning caused by accumulated oil all year round. Most of the air storage tanks are used with supporting air compressors. Most of the air compressors are oil-lubricated screw compressors. During the long-term operation of the air compressor, because the air contains a lot of impurities, metal rust, deteriorated emulsified oil, and so on, these pollutants will form grease-rich deposits along the entire compressor exhaust channel with the compressed air, Under certain conditions (such as static electricity), it is likely to cause combustion, which will lead to overpressure of the system and then cause accidents.

       2. Combustion caused by oil leakage of screw air compressor. This situation is also one of the more common faults of the air compressor users. There are many reasons for this fault, such as oil and gas separation fault, unreasonable pipeline design, long-term operation of the air compressor at far lower than the rated pressure, etc., which will cause the phenomenon of oil leakage of the air compressor. This phenomenon will also lead to the deposition of oil and grease in the air storage tank. The static electricity accompanied by the excessive flow rate will also increase rapidly. When the oil and static electricity coexist, the possibility of accidents will be greatly increased, thus causing accidents.

       3. Improper equipment maintenance and management. After the report and case analysis of many compressed air tank accidents, the improper management and maintenance of the air tank account for a large proportion of the accidents. For example, the operation and management personnel lack safety awareness, the safety accessories are not calibrated regularly, the impurities in the tank are not cleaned regularly, and the gas storage tank is overdue.

In the face of the safety hazards of the above gas storage tanks, we should take preventive and response measures in advance: 1. Timely eliminate the pollutants and static electricity in the gas storage tanks; 2. Correctly install the gas storage tank and pipeline; 3. Improve the safety awareness of the gas tank operators, strengthen the maintenance and management of equipment, and operate in strict accordance with the provisions of the precautions for the use of the gas tank.
